Scratchpad training files

The training manuals and training files are now integrated into the help pages on each Scratchpad. You can access the help either through the 'Help' menu item or, if this is not present, via the ".../admin/advanced_help/scratchpadify_help" link, or via the little question mark icons on your site. The icons open a pop-up window with the help page for this specific feature. However, there are links to other parts of the help system as well. You can also print the manual for the basic and advanced training course (links will not work in the print version).

The files below are not updated any more, so if you use them you need to be aware that parts of them might be out of date.

The instructions for the basic and the advanced training course are specifically written for use with the training sites. However, you can also do the training on your own on the Sandbox (username: test, password: pass) or we can provide you with a home training site where you can practice for a longer period. Please contact us if you would like a home training site. If you use the sandbox you must be prepared that other users may change the site at the same time and you must be aware that the sandbox is rebuild every 6 hours. So best start just after it was rebuild. What you see on the sandbox will differ from the training sites only in the 'Log in' section at the start of the course.

For the course we use the Mozilla Firefox browser which can be downloaded from http://www.mozilla.com. If you don't have administrative rights on your computer you can use Portable Firefox.

For the basic training course you can prepare by downloading the 'Training_Files.zip' file to your computer and extracting the files. An example of how your site can look like after finishing the basic and advanced course can be found at http://carnidae.myspecies.info.
